Welcome to Preschool!

Hello, Parents,
 

Hello!  My name is Miriam Olmos Tapia, and I am a special education teacher.  In my country, Ecuador, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education, with a concentration in Special Education.  Here in the United States, I attended NJCU, where I obtained my certification for Preschool through Grade 3 (P-3) and a Master's degree in Special Education.
Since 2011, I have worked in the North Bergen School District as a resource teacher.  This year, I will be working as a Pre-K special education teacher.  I am very excited to be your child's teacher for the 2025-2026 school year!  I love teaching and I'm very enthusiastic about helping my students develop their skills.  I hope to make your child's pre-kindergarten experience enriching and fun. 
In my free time, I love traveling, spending time with my family, watching movies, and reading.  I am also a cat person and have a cat named Leo.  I look forward to a fantastic school year ahead!  Communication is crucial, so please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have.

¡Hola padres de familia!
 
Mi nombre es Miriam Olmos Tapia, y soy maestra de educación especial.  En mi país, Ecuador, me gradué de Bachiller en Ciencias de la Educación, con la especialidad de Educación Especial.  Aquí en los Estados Unidos, asistí a la Universidad NJCU y obtuve mi certificación para enseñar preescolar hasta 3.er grado (P-3), y obtuve una maestría en Educación Especial.   
Estoy trabajando en el distrito de North Bergen desde el año 2011 como maestra de recursos.  Este año estaré trabajando como maestra de educación especial de prekínder. Estoy muy emocionada de ser la maestra de su hijo/a en este año escolar 2025-2026.  Me encanta enseñar y me entusiasma ayudar a mis estudiantes a desarrollar sus habilidades.  Espero que la experiencia de su niño/a en el prekínder sea enriquecedora y divertida.   
En mi tiempo libre, me gusta viajar, pasar tiempo con mi familia, ver películas y leer.  También soy una persona a la que le encantan los gatos y tengo uno que se llama Leo.  Espero que este nuevo año escolar sea fantástico.  Para mí la comunicación es crucial , por eso no dude en contactarme si tiene alguna pregunta o preocupación.

1 backpack (labeled with your child’s name)

1 plastic folder with pockets

1 complete change of clothes (pants, t-shirt, underwear, socks), please put it in a Ziploc bag with the student’s name

1 crib-sized blanket

2 crib-fitted sheets 

Diapers/Pull-ups/Baby wipes (if your child is not toilet-trained yet)

 

School Supplies

8 containers of Play-Doh (Play-Doh brand)

1 pack of Expo 8pk dry erase markers (Expo-low odor brand)

1 dry eraser

1 pack of baby wipes

2 boxes of tissues

2 rolls of paper towels

1 bottle of hand sanitizer

1 bottle of liquid hand soap (Not antibacterial)

1 box of Ziploc bags (gallon)

1 box of Ziploc sandwich-size bags

1 pack of plastic spoons

 

Accidents Happen

Dear parents,

Spills and accidents occur in school. Please pack an additional change of clothes for your child in a large Ziplock bag labeled with your child’s name (including shirt, pants, underwear, and socks).  Extra clothing will be kept in your child’s cubby in case of a bathroom accident or spill emergency. 

 

Accidentes Ocurren

Estimados padres,

En la escuela ocurren derrames y accidentes.  Por favor empaque un cambio de ropa adicional para su hijo/a en una bolsa grande de Ziploc etiquetada con el nombre de su hijo/a (que incluya camisa, pantalones, ropa interior y medias).  Se guardará la ropa adicional en el cubículo del estudiante en caso de un accidente en el baño o una emergencia por derrame.
