Welcome to Ms. Elnaggar's page!

I would like to welcome both parents and students and wish you all a successful school year.
My name is Ms. Elnaggar, your child's 2nd grade teacher. I truly believe that while teachers are bridges that help students get from where they are now to some other place in our future, a child's education can be greatly enhanced by their parent's involvement in the classroom. Therefore I am hoping that through good communication between us and with your cooperation throughout the school year, we can help their little minds develop and prosper. I am glad to answer your questions at all times, so please feel free to contact me at [email protected]
I look forward to know you and your child!

Sincerely,

Ms. Elnaggar

Dear Students and Parents,

Words cannot express how much we have missed seeing our students in the classroom each day. I realize this drastic change wasn’t easy, but I am extremely proud of everyone's efforts at home. Since Today is the last day of school, I have posted different letters from the school and the district supervisors with recommendations for summer activities and reading material. I also emailed all students my invitation to participate in Epic Books.com for more reading material. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions.
Have a safe great summer.
Ms. Elnaggar

Dear Students and Parents,

Summer has finally arrived!!!  And along with summer, we must think about ways to keep our students’ brains active to help avoid that summer slide.

Research shows that reading books during the summer may help a reader from regressing.    We want our students to continue to grow and maintain the skills they have worked so hard to develop.  In an effort to help them stay on track, we recommend that students read and log thirty minutes of reading 3-4 times a week on the NB Reads Every Day (NB R.E.D.) sheet.

Students and parents are encouraged to check out the district English Language Arts page where you can find the 2020 Summer Reading Resources tab for additional articles and resources!  We’ve updated our Videos tab to include more read-alouds for readers to enjoy which are similar to books shared during our wonderful Battle of the Books

Students from grades K-6 will receive a class code from their homeroom teacher from GetEpic.  GetEpic is an online reading resource that will provide students with two free hours of reading per week this summer.  Feel free to use the site or download the application as another source for literature. Take a quick peek at PBS Summer Reading Camp, Scholastic Summer Read-A-Palooza, Barnes & Nobel Summer Reading Program and Reading Rockets Recommended Summer Reading List for more ideas.  Lastly, the North Bergen Public Library  has just announced its Curbside Pick Up and Virtual Summer Reading Program.

We encourage students to take a book wherever they may go and would love to see updates on all our students reading this summer! Post pics of your child(ren) reading in their favorite book on our North Bergen Elementary ELA Facebook page #NBRED.  Feel free email us at [email protected] with pictures or to share a story that you enjoyed and we will post it on our Facebook page for all!

I wish you all a safe and wonderful summer!
